In the 1960s, the population of Virginia Beach was expanding rapidly as larger and larger numbers of people were "seeking the suburban lifestyle."〔 In 1971, Arthur and Miriam Peregoff purchased the original Everett School and changed its name to Cape Henry Collegiate School.
